3RIFIC Skincare Radiance Revitalizing Cream

If you remember my last post, I sang my praises of the 3RIFIC brand and their Premium Face Oil. If you’ve never heard of the brand, they make natural Japanese skincare products, with a base in Singapore, shipping out to the world. Fiddysnails has talked about the Premium Face Oil, too, and the brand recently launched an 0.8 Liter campaign in the USA, so they are slowly trickling more and more into public view in the Asian Beauty world.

Japanese beauty products have proven to be among the best, at least, for me and my skin. I am a huge fan of some of the more simplistic, cheaper brands like Hada Labo and Nameraka Honpo. However, Japan also has a wealth of skincare on offer, with brands galore and interesting products for you to feast your eyes on. The 3RIFIC brand, in my opinion, falls into the category of interesting for me, mostly because of its ingredients and brand message.

The brand are cruelty-free, with products containing an array of concentrated ingredients sourced both in Japan and across the world, in the Mediterranean (a place I live, but can still never spell first try). Their products claim to be suitable for every skin type, even those with sensitive skin, acne, hyper-pigmentation, and those with rosacea.

The Radiance Revitalising Face Cream recently won the award for the Best Day Moisturiser at the UK Beauty Shortlist Awards 2017. Let’s discover why that might be.

The formula is paraben, silicone, added colour, and mineral oil free, and does not contain animal ingredients. Here’s the ingredient list:

Aqua, glycerin, butylene glycol, caprylic/capric tryglyceride, jojoba oil, arachidyl alcohol, stearic acid, glyceryl stearate citrate, hydrolysed manihot esculenta tuber extract (cassava plant), haksap berries, bacillus/soybean ferment extract, tara fruit, argania, spinosa sprout cell extract, red algae, malus domestica fruit cell culture extract (swiss apple), behenyl alcohol, organic avocado oil, soybean oil, polyglyceryl-3 stearate, organic olive oil, organic sunflower oil, pentylene glycol, tocopherol (vitamin E), 1, 2-Hexanediol, polyacrylate cross polymer-6, ethyhexylglycerin, pelargonium graveolens flower oil (geranium flower), hydrogenated lecithin, rosa centifolia flower extract, glyceryl caprylate, arachidyl glucoside, phenethyl alcohol, clycerylamidoethyl methacrylate/stearyl methacrylate copolymer, xanthan gum, lecithin, phenoxyethanol, fragrance (vanilla).

One of the main ingredients highlighted in this formula is the haksap berry, which was named in Japanese by the Ainu, but is also known as blue honeysuckle and honeyberry. It can be found in Hokkaido, Japan, and is a berry which is rich in antioxidants, helping to protect against free radicals and boost cell turnover in skin. This keeps skin looking youthful and healthy.

The cream claims to protect “against aging caused by pollutants and sun exposure”, and antioxidants certainly tick this box, along with other listed ingredients such as algae, avocado oil, and vitamin E. Fermented soybeans are something I’ve been seeing as an ingredient in a few products I’ve used lately, and they work wonders in moisturising and nourishing the skin as part of an anti-ageing formula.

Overall, I am impressed with the ingredient list, but it should be noted this is not alcohol-free (if you avoid products with alcohol in, which I don’t), and is not fragrance-free. The scent is not overpowering and I actually get kind of a honey-vanilla type scent, which I find very pleasant and not at all artificial.

The moisturiser is not particularly thick, and has a sort of bouncy, jelly feel to it whilst not being completely solid, kind of like a gel-cream hybrid. This means it is light and refreshing, and absorbs into the skin well. I like to combine it with the Premium Facial Oil, as it makes a beautiful combination for my skin, but alone it also works well and leaves no greasy feeling behind, with no pilling or difficulty absorbing.

Many anti-ageing creams are thick and heavy, and I actually have difficulty with some moisturisers and oils absorbing into my skin, despite the fact my skin type is dry/normal. For this reason I tend to go for lighter creams, so this product ticks my boxes and suits what I usually look for in a moisturiser.

The product is $93 Singapore dollars, which roughly comes in at $72 USD, meaning it’s not one of the cheaper moisturisers on the market, and could be compared in price to some of the mid-range luxury style products, like Tatcha and Kiehl’s. It won’t break the bank, but it’s pricey for some. Anti-ageing products often come with a higher price tag, and when you buy a moisturiser you should consider why the price is so – the ingredient list, the background story of the brand, where it’s being shipped from, and so on.

The $92 SGD also includes shipping, as 3RIFIC ship for free to over 30 countries worldwide.

As I hinted before, the texture of this cream makes it really pleasant to use. It blends well with oils, if that’s something that you enjoy doing with your skincare routine, and it is not at all heavy-feeling or greasy on the skin. Whilst being lightweight, I have never found that my skin feels tight or dry later on in the day, so the moisture is there.

At night, I do prefer to wear a sleeping pack for a heavier occlusive layer which lasts me through the night, but this kind of layer is not always compatible with makeup and sunscreen which I wear on my face in the day. This product is marketed rather more as a day cream than a night cream, so it is understandable you might want that extra layer at bedtime.

Overall I am pleased with the results of this cream. I like to use creams for around a month to get the true picture of what they are doing for me, and so while I gave a first impressions of this on my Instagram, the jury was out until I had used it considerably.

What I like about the cream is how supple and bouncy my skin feels overall, and how healthy it looks right now. Of course, my skin doesn’t just look healthy because of this cream – it is a combination of factors – but this moisturiser smooths and leaves my skin feeling radiant and healthy. I am 28, so I don’t really have wrinkles, but I am keen to keep my skin looking hydrated and healthy for as long as possible, and anti-ageing products are definitely on my radar. This cream worked well for me, and I will continue to use it. If I were going to choose from the two products sent to me for review (the cream and the facial oil), I would choose to buy the facial oil as it really has changed how I view oils and my skin.

3RIFIC as a brand have truly interested me, and after I received these products for review I noticed they had developed a serum, which I of course ordered immediately, for, er, research purposes. I’m now waiting for it to come in the post and would love to see how it compares to their other products. It’s a ‘Brightening Serum Concentrate’, with sea fennel extract – an ingredient which has worked wonders for me in the past, so watch this space!

All things considered, I really hope to see more of 3RIFIC and their beautiful products. They work well, they provide free shipping which is a BIG factor for me as a European blogger, and they have absolutely gorgeous packaging and branding. I can only hope things continue to grow and we see more lovely products developed on the way.
